时光 [The Times] Alfred Hui 許廷鏗 {Cantonese 13}

Only recently have I noticed, we’ve hardly seen each other these past two years.
Calls go to voicemail, with promises to meet soon.
Looking closely, I notice the years on this smiling face.
If I knew before, I would have expressed my sadness.
Looking back on the perfunctory manner of yesterday,
How many words of yours did I toss from my ears?
It’s my fault for not practicing, afraid that it will be hard to live up to.
My heart knows that the past has changed.
Once I missed you a lot, regretting that we didn’t meet that day.
I remember the promises I keep. Who would have thought that the times would have put on this tragedy?
Finally, we meet. Luckily, we can tell each other what’s on our hearts.
Don’t be afraid of too many tears. Let’s fix yesterday.
When we hug before we leave, there’s no need to escape my eyes.
When I watch every big picture on the screen,
Heartbreaking scenes follow one after the other.
Only waste and debris left, no sign of human habitation.
A blink of the eye, and it’s already gone.
The test of life has many buried traps.
Only by remembering both the bitter and sweet can we understand the point of growing up, no need to hold on to yesterday.
Hidden behind the times are the changes written by heaven.
Don’t be afraid of too many tears. Let them come more passionately.
The goodbye party of yesterday feels better than a feast.
Anticipate a day in the future, when we meet again at this table.
